Meet Robert Taylor

Real estate has never been just a career for me; it’s been a personal journey.

Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, I learned early that success comes through hard work, persistence, and taking calculated risks. As a professional musician for more than 20 years, I didn’t have the traditional career path or predictable income many lenders prefer. That meant achieving my goal of owning real estate required patience, sacrifice, and determination.

After years of saving, I was finally able to purchase my first piece of property in St. Lucia. The original plan was simple: build a home that my family could enjoy while generating additional income through vacation rentals. Life had other plans.

A chance walk one Sunday with my daughter sparked a completely different vision—one that ultimately led to the creation of Villa Zatarra, a luxury vacation rental that has welcomed guests from around the world. That experience taught me that successful real estate investing isn’t just about buying property; it’s about recognizing opportunity, thinking creatively, and having the confidence to bring a vision to life.

Building a successful vacation rental business also gave me firsthand insight into the challenges investors face from financing with an unconventional income to designing, marketing, and managing a high-performing luxury rental. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I also served as the first Public Relations Officer for the Vacation Rental Association of St. Lucia, helping the industry navigate one of the most challenging periods in its history while advocating for property owners and the future of vacation rentals.

Today, I bring those real-world experiences to every client I work with through Island Life Properties.
